The “Mission 40+” initiative is credited for this massive success. The Department of School Education and Literacy conducted workshops across districts, training 10,854 teachers to ensure every student scores at least 40 marks.

Key features of the mission included:

  • Blue-print based teaching: Focusing on important questions and patterns.
  • Special Coaching: Identifying and conducting extra classes for slow learners.
  • Early Syllabus Completion: Completing the curriculum by December to allow ample time for revision and mock exams.
  • Support Systems: Phone-in programs were used to resolve student doubts and reduce exam anxiety.

Dr. Eshwar Ullagaddi, Additional Commissioner of the Department of School Education and Literacy (Dharwad), has been lauded for his leadership. His “Mission 40+” plan and regular monitoring of schools became a model for the entire state, significantly boosting the pass percentage.
