To provide citizens with high-quality mangoes at reasonable prices directly from farmers, the Department of Horticulture is organizing a Mango Exhibition and Sale – Mango Mela in the city. The event is scheduled to take place from May 8 to May 10 at Hume Park on Club Road.
The fair aims to bridge the gap between producers and consumers, ensuring that farmers receive a fair price while the public gets access to premium, naturally ripened fruit. The exhibition will be open to visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Focus on Quality and Science
According to the Joint Director of Horticulture (Zilla Panchayat), the mela highlights mangoes that have been harvested scientifically and ripened naturally. By eliminating middlemen, the department is providing a dedicated platform for farmers to sell their yield directly to the urban population.
Inauguration and Dignitaries
The event will be officially inaugurated by Public Works and District In-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi.
Other prominent leaders expected to attend include:
- Lakshmi R. Hebbalkar: Minister for Women and Child Development, Disabled and Senior Citizens Empowerment.
- Asif (Raju) Sait: MLA of Belagavi North, who will preside over the inaugural function.
Residents of Belagavi are encouraged to visit the mela to support local farmers and enjoy a wide variety of carbide-free, naturally ripened mangoes.
