Track Upgrade : Miraj–Castle Rock Express Partial Cancellation Extended

Commuters reliant on the Miraj–Castle Rock rail link will need to adjust their travel plans for another month. The South Western Railway’s Hubballi Division announced on Saturday that the partial cancellation of the express train service has been extended through June 30, 2026, due to ongoing track doubling work.

The infrastructure project, focused on upgrading the crucial Londa–Castle Rock section to a double-track line, continues to require significant operational adjustments to ensure safety.

Here is how your daily commute or travel plans will be affected from June 1 to June 30, 2026:

  • Train No. 17333 (Miraj to Castle Rock): This service will terminate early at Londa (LD). It will not be running on the final stretch of its usual route, meaning it will skip both TinaiGhat (TGT) and Castle Rock (CLR) stations entirely.
  • Train No. 17334 (Castle Rock to Miraj): For the return journey, the train will skip its usual starting point and will instead originate from Londa (LD). Passengers looking to board at Castle Rock (CLR) or TinaiGhat (TGT) will need to find alternative transportation to Londa to catch the train.

Railway officials have expressed regret for the ongoing inconvenience but emphasized that expanding the track capacity on this route is vital for smoother, faster journeys in the long run.
