In a major push to upgrade public education infrastructure and deliver modern, high-tech learning, MLA Asif (Raju) Sait on Saturday inaugurated newly built robotics, language, and virtual laboratories at the Karnataka Public School (Sardar High School) in Kakatives, Belagavi.
Alongside the lab inaugurations, the foundation stone (Bhoomi Pooja) was laid for the construction of new classrooms under the Public Works Department’s (PWD) 2025–26 plan, carrying an estimated budget of ₹5 crore.
Transforming Government Education
Addressing the gathering, MLA Sait stated that the school is undergoing an extensive ₹8.04 crore overhaul:
- ₹5 Crore: Allocated for constructing modern school classrooms.
- ₹3.04 Crore: Dedicated to smart learning systems, robotics labs, language labs, and upgrading specialized workshops.
Reflecting on his tenure, Sait noted that addressing basic sanitation was his first priority after election following student requests. He emphasized that the introduction of advanced technical labs will bridge the gap between private and public schooling, equipping government school students with technical and skill-based proficiencies to excel academically.
Focus on Quality and Access
DDPI Leelavathi Hiremath highlighted that District In-charge and PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi facilitated more than ₹8 crore in funding for the development of the school, which currently serves around 2,000 students. Malagouda Patil, Personal Assistant to Minister Jarkiholi, added that the state government aims to elevate government schools into benchmark learning hubs.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan, Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, Deputy Mayor Hanumanth Kongali, BEO Ravi Bhajantri, along with officials from the education and PWD departments, faculty, and parents.
