Belagavi Police Divert Heavy Vehicles on Dharwad–Kolhapur Corridors

BELAGAVI: The Belagavi District Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory notifying motorists and transport operators of key route diversions for heavy vehicles operating along the Dharwad–Belagavi, Kolhapur–Belagavi, and Dharwad–Kolhapur corridors.

Farmers’ organisations will block the Hattaragi and Hire Bagewadi toll plazas on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway on Tuesday, October 13, after talks with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi failed to resolve their demands for higher sugar MSP and sugarcane prices.

Chunappa Pujeri of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha said the agitation would resume, with a statewide protest planned next month.

Key Diversion Routes

1. Dharwad to Belagavi City

Heavy transport vehicles heading towards Belagavi City from Dharwad have been advised to use four designated alternative routes:

  • Route 1: Dharwad -> Alnavar -> Ramanagar -> Khanapur -> Belagavi City
  • Route 2: Dharwad -> Linganamatha Cross -> Bidi -> Nandagad -> Khanapur -> Belagavi City
  • Route 3: Kittur -> Bidi -> Nandagad -> Khanapur -> Belagavi City
  • Route 4: Dharwad -> Kittur -> M.K. Hubballi -> Pariwad -> Khanapur -> Belagavi City

2. Kolhapur to Belagavi City

For heavy carriers traveling inbound from Kolhapur into Belagavi City, traffic has been rerouted via southern Maharashtra and border taluks:

  • Route: Kolhapur -> Kagal -> Admapur -> Gargoti -> Gadhinglaj -> Ajara -> Chandgad -> Shinoli -> Belagavi City

3. Dharwad to Kolhapur Bypass

Heavy freight traffic traveling between Dharwad and Kolhapur without requiring entry into the city core must follow these bypass corridors:

  • Route 1: Dharwad -> Belavadi -> Bailhongal -> Mekhalamaradi Cross -> Gokak
  • Route 2: Dharwad -> Belavadi Cross -> Munavalli -> Savadatti -> Yaragatti -> Gokak

Police Advisory and Safety Guidelines

The Belagavi District Police have urged all commercial drivers and logistics operators to adhere strictly to the notified routes and maintain cooperation with traffic personnel deployed on-duty.

Motorists are reminded to observe prescribed speed limits (maximum 60 km/h on indicated stretches), follow traffic signals, fasten seat belts, and ensure disciplined driving for a safe and hassle-free transit.
