The City Corporation of Belagavi has floated a tender for the construction of a new vegetable market at Mahantesh Nagar, aiming to strengthen local market infrastructure and provide better facilities for vendors and residents in the area.
According to the tender document issued under Tender Number DMA/2025-26/OW/WORK_INDENT56842, the project is estimated at approximately ₹1.20 crore and will be executed under the Corporation Fund for 2026-27. The work is expected to be completed within nine months, including the monsoon period.
The proposed market building will include extensive civil and electrical works, with the estimate document detailing structural construction, flooring, plastering, steel reinforcement, painting, drainage-related works, and electrification. The estimate also includes GST and third-party inspection charges.

As per the estimate summary, the main civil construction component is valued at around ₹91.81 lakh, while electrification and miscellaneous works account for approximately ₹10.92 lakh. After adding GST and inspection charges, the total project cost reaches ₹1.20 crore.
The tender process will be conducted through the Karnataka Public Procurement Portal under a two-cover system, where contractors must first qualify technically before their financial bids are opened. The City Corporation has invited registered contractors from KPWD, PRE, CPWD, and those registered on the Karnataka Public Procurement portal to participate.
Officials stated that the new vegetable market is expected to improve organized vending facilities, enhance hygiene standards, and create a more convenient shopping environment for the public in Mahantesh Nagar and nearby localities.
