Belagavi City Corporation Clears Footpath Encroachments opposite CBT

In a major civic enforcement drive on Sunday morning, the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) removed encroachments from footpaths opposite the Central Bus Station (CBS) and the City Bus Station, restoring pedestrian space in one of the city’s busiest areas.

For several years, numerous vendors had been selling vegetables, fruits, flowers and other items by occupying the footpaths, forcing pedestrians to walk on the road and causing traffic inconvenience. The area had also become a concern due to poor sanitation, with garbage often being dumped on roadsides and even on the road medians, leaving the surroundings dirty and affecting the city’s overall appearance.

The issue had been repeatedly highlighted by citizens and local media, with frequent demands for action to improve cleanliness and reclaim public spaces. Responding to these long-standing concerns, the Belagavi City Corporation carried out the encroachment removal drive on Sunday morning.

The action has received widespread appreciation from residents, who have welcomed the Corporation’s efforts to improve cleanliness, restore footpaths for pedestrians and enhance the city’s image. Many citizens have urged the civic body to continue such drives regularly and ensure that the cleared footpaths are not encroached upon again.
