The Karnataka Legislative Assembly’s annual Winter Session will be held at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi from December 2 to December 11.
The Legislative Assembly Secretariat officially announced the updated schedule following key revisions approved by the state cabinet.
Key Highlights of the Revised Schedule
- Dates: December 2 to December 11
- Working Days: Spread across nine days, with proceedings scheduled to take place on Saturday as well to cover legislative business.
- Venue: Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Belagavi.
Why the Dates Were Shifted
The government had originally planned a 10-day session running from November 30 to December 11. A formal proposal to this effect had already been submitted by the Department of Parliamentary Affairs to the Governor for assent.
However, the timeline had to be reworked due to the upcoming by-election in the Hiriyur assembly constituency.
Following directions from the state government, the department withdrew the initial file sent to Raj Bhavan. The rescheduled proposal—moving the commencement date to December 2—was submitted to Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh. The final decision was ratified during the recent state cabinet meeting.
Government sources noted that despite the delayed start, the legislature will hold sittings across eight to nine working days to ensure pending legislative agendas and regional matters are thoroughly addressed.
