In a major push to decentralize industrial growth and generate employment across the state, the Karnataka government has directed officials to identify five emerging cities beyond Bengaluru to develop as new industrial hubs.
Chairing a progress review meeting of the Commerce and Industries Department at the home office Krishna, the leadership emphasized offering tailored incentive packages and concessions to attract major investors to tier-2 and tier-3 regions equipped with airport connectivity and robust basic infrastructure.
Strengthening Single-Window Clearances To enhance the ease of doing business, instructions were issued to reinforce the state’s single-window clearance mechanism:
- Time-Bound Approvals: All relevant departments must clear investor proposals within fixed timelines, with inter-ministerial coordination slated to resolve pending bottlenecks.
- Integrated Services: The single-window portal currently integrates 22 departments and 119 services, prioritizing end-to-end digital clearances.
- Boosting Competitiveness: Karnataka currently ranks 9th on NITI Aayog’s investor-friendly index. Officials reviewed competitive policy measures adopted by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh to implement key reforms demanded by global investors.
Manufacturing Inflows Reach ₹5.58 Lakh Crore Officials reported that Karnataka has secured the 3rd spot nationally in manufacturing investments, attracting ₹5.58 lakh crore over the past three years.
Special promotional focus is being directed toward high-growth emerging sectors, including:
- Semiconductors and advanced electronics
- Aerospace and Defence
- Clean mobility and battery/cell manufacturing
Following the “Utpadana Manthana” roundtable with 80 leading CEOs, the state has already resolved 35 out of the 55 key industry recommendations to improve operating conditions.
Global Technology Centres Under LEAP Initiative
By bringing global technology opportunities closer to regional talent, the initiative is designed to foster innovation, attract high-value tech investments, and create new pathways for quality employment across different parts of the state.
Under the Local Economic Acceleration Programme (LEAP) as part of the Beyond Bengaluru mission, the government is establishing five Global Technology Centres in Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Hubballi–Dharwad, Mangaluru, and Mysuru.
