No-Fly Zone Declared in Belagavi Ahead of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s Visit

Security arrangements have been intensified across Belagavi ahead of the scheduled visit of Mohan Bhagwat and a series of important organisational meetings of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

The Belagavi District Magistrate has declared a 2-km radius around three key venues as a “Red Zone” or “No-Fly Zone” from July 6 to July 14, 2026. The order has been issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, citing security and public safety concerns.

Under the restrictions, the operation of drones, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and paragliders will be prohibited within the notified areas during the restriction period.

The restricted zones cover areas surrounding venues including the Belagavi Foundry Sristar Guest House in the Angol Industrial Area, Sant Meera School near Sahyadri Colony and Bhagyanagar Extension, and Shri Jagannath Rao Joshi Samadarshana Bhavan near Godsad Road, Shastri Nagar and Khade Bazaar. Police personnel have been directed to strictly enforce the restrictions.

The security measures come ahead of the RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prant Pracharak Baithak scheduled to be held in Belagavi from July 10 to 12, 2026. Senior functionaries from across the country are expected to participate in the three-day organisational meeting. Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to arrive in Belagavi on July 6.

Apart from the no-fly restrictions, security agencies have reportedly stepped up surveillance, vehicle checks and police deployment around the meeting venues to ensure the programmes are conducted peacefully and securely.
