Jagadish Shettar, Member of Parliament from Belagavi and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, has urged to restore its daily flight services between New Delhi and Belagavi.
In a letter addressed to the airline’s Vice President and Head of Domestic Operations, Shettar highlighted concerns over the reduction in flight frequency on the Delhi–Belagavi–Delhi route.
According to the letter, the service, which was previously operated daily, has been reduced from July 1, 2026, to just three flights a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Shettar stated that the reduction in frequency has significantly affected passengers, including doctors, lawyers, businesspeople, political leaders, government officials and educationists who regularly travel between the two cities.
He noted that there has been a consistent demand from passengers and stakeholders for the restoration of the daily service.
Highlighting Belagavi’s importance as an educational and industrial centre, the MP also pointed to the presence of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, where sessions of the Karnataka Legislature are held.
Shettar further stated that the Delhi–Belagavi–Delhi route has proven to be commercially viable and requested the airline to restore the daily flight frequency at the earliest in the interest of public convenience.
The appeal comes amid growing demand from residents, business communities and frequent travellers for stronger and more reliable air connectivity from Belagavi to major cities across the country.
