NEW DELHI — Raichur Member of Parliament G Kumar Naik met with senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at the agency’s headquarters in New Delhi to press for the speedy execution and strict quality control of key highway corridors in Karnataka, most notably the Raichur–Belagavi (NH-748A) National Highway project.
During the meeting, Naik held detailed discussions with NHAI Executive Director Anil Chowdhary and Ajay Gupta, General Manager overseeing projects in Karnataka. The talks centered on removing bureaucratic bottlenecks, adhering to timelines, and maintaining high construction standards across ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects in the region.
A major takeaway from the review was NHAI’s commitment regarding Package 7 of the Raichur–Belagavi highway. Officials assured the MP that the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Package 7 will commence in November, following the finalized alignment route.
Addressing the status of Packages 5 and 6 of the same corridor, Naik pointed out that local district administrations have largely resolved outstanding land acquisition hurdles. With the primary roadblocks cleared, he urged NHAI authorities to accelerate civil construction work on the ground without further delay.
Naik underscored that rapid execution must go hand in hand with rigorous engineering standards, emphasizing to officials that there should be no compromise on the durability and safety of the highway network.
