In a move that is expected to inconvenience frequent travelers, IndiGo has suspended one of its daily services on the Bengaluru–Belagavi–Bengaluru route, citing rising aviation turbine fuel (ATF) costs and operational considerations.
Until recently, IndiGo operated two daily flights between Bengaluru and Belagavi, offering passengers the convenience of both morning and evening travel options. However, the airline has now reduced its operations to a single daily flight starting from 16th June.
Under the revised schedule, IndiGo will operate:
- Sunday, Monday, Wednesday & Friday
- Bengaluru (BLR) – 6:50 AM
- Belagavi (IXG) – 8:20 AM
- Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday
- Bengaluru (BLR) – 5:55 PM
- Belagavi (IXG) – 7:25 PM
The reduction in frequency has raised concerns among business travelers, students, government officials, and tourists who rely on flexible same-day connectivity between Karnataka’s capital and North Karnataka’s largest city.
Passengers point out that the earlier schedule, with both morning and evening departures, allowed convenient day trips and better onward connections. The suspension of one service is likely to result in limited seat availability and reduced travel flexibility.
Belagavi has witnessed steady growth in air passenger traffic in recent years, with increasing demand for connectivity to Bengaluru. Stakeholders and frequent flyers are hopeful that IndiGo will restore the second daily flight once operational costs stabilize and demand conditions improve.
The development comes at a time when Belagavi continues to strengthen its position as an important commercial, educational, administrative, and industrial hub in North Karnataka, making reliable air connectivity crucial for the region’s growth.
