BELAGAVI – In a move that has stunned the academic community, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has set a remarkable new benchmark for administrative efficiency.
On Tuesday, June 30, the university announced the results for the sixth-semester BE and BTech examinations a mere five minutes after the final paper concluded.
The results, which were released jointly by VTU Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar and Registrar (Evaluation) U.J. Ujwal, were made available at 5:35 p.m., just moments after the 5:30 p.m. exam cutoff.
A Historic Achievement in Evaluation
A total of 60,856 students appeared for the exams. By delivering the results almost instantaneously, the university completed the entire evaluation process 21 days ahead of its previous timelines. The university reported an overall pass percentage of 76.84%.
This achievement marks a significant acceleration in VTU’s efforts to streamline its examination wing. The trajectory of their rapid-result initiatives over the recent period highlights a consistent push toward efficiency:
| Academic Year/Period | Student Volume | Time to Result Declaration |
|---|---|---|
| Recent Past | 56,000 | 10 Minutes |
| 2025 | 50,321 | 1 Hour |
| 2024-25 (6th Sem) | 58,232 | 10 Days |
| Current (June 2026) | 60,856 | 5 Minutes |
Leveraging Technology for Speed
Addressing the success of the initiative, Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar emphasized that the primary motivation was the student experience. “Students wait eagerly for their results. Hence, we decided to announce them as quickly as possible. With proper preparation, we released the results immediately,” he stated.
Registrar (Evaluation) U.J. Ujwal credited the seamless execution to modernization in the university’s workflow. “We adopted digital evaluation and prepared well to announce results quickly,” he noted.
By leveraging advanced digital evaluation systems and rigorous logistical preparation, VTU has successfully transitioned from a process that once took weeks to one that now operates in near real-time, setting a new standard for technical universities across the country.
