Delhi Connectivity Cut: IndiGo to Operate Belagavi and Hubballi Flights on Alternate Days

In a major update for flyers in North Karnataka, budget carrier IndiGo has restructured its flight operations between the national capital and the twin cities of Belagavi and Hubballi. The airline has scaled back its popular direct daily service between Delhi and Belagavi to just three days a week.

While the airline has not officially disclosed the reason behind the scale-back, industry sources hint that the decision is tightly linked to rising operational overheads and fuel cost rationalization.

To bridge the connectivity gap for the region, IndiGo is adopting an alternating-day strategy by sharing the Delhi connection between Belagavi and Hubballi.

Revised Schedule & Timings

Despite the drop in weekly frequency, the flight timings for the Belagavi route remain unchanged. The new schedule details are as follows:

Delhi (DEL) ⇄ Belagavi (IXG)

  • Operating Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Delhi to Belagavi: Departs Delhi at 06:15 AM; arrives in Belagavi at 08:40 AM.
  • Belagavi to Delhi: Departs Belagavi at 09:10 AM; reaches Delhi at 11:40 AM.

Delhi (DEL) ⇄ Hubballi (HBX)

  • Operating Days: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday

Impact on Commuters

The shift from a daily service to a thrice-a-week schedule is expected to impact business travelers, students, and government officials who rely on seamless daily connectivity to Delhi. Local frequent flyers have expressed frustration, noting that the reduction follows closely on the heels of recent cuts to the Belagavi-Bengaluru sector, putting additional pressure on North Karnataka’s overall air connectivity.
