In a major push to northern Karnataka’s industrial landscape, French agro-processing major Roquette India has proposed an investment of approximately ₹100 crore to expand its manufacturing facility in Gokak, Belagavi district.
The expansion plan, announced by Minister for Large & Medium Industries M.B. Patil, aims to significantly boost the plant’s production capacity for starch and starch-based products while leveraging Belagavi’s position as a regional hub for agricultural raw materials.

- Direct Plant Expansion: Roquette India will invest ₹100 crore directly into its Gokak manufacturing operations, expanding production infrastructure and output capacity.
- Capitalizing on Maize Leadership: Karnataka is one of India’s top maize-producing states, and Belagavi’s agricultural output serves as a primary supply backbone for starch processing, strengthening regional farm-to-factory supply chains.
- GCC Expansion to Bengaluru: Alongside the Gokak plant expansion, Roquette India is exploring the establishment of a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru to support global operations.

The Roquette India Private Limited plant in Gokak, Belagavi district, is one of India’s largest corn wet-milling (maize processing) facilities.
History & Growth
- Origin (1995–1996): The facility was originally set up by Glaxo and KSIIDC under the name K.G. Gluco Biols Ltd.. It was acquired in 1995–96 by Riddhi Siddhi Gluco Biols Ltd. (RSGBL).
- Joint Venture (2006): French plant-based ingredients leader Roquette Frères entered as a strategic business partner and equity investor with Riddhi Siddhi.
- Roquette Entity Incorporation (2010): The dedicated corporate entity was incorporated in August 2010 (originally as Roquette Riddhi Siddhi Pvt. Ltd. before transitioning completely into Roquette India Pvt. Ltd.).
