In a major citizen-centric move aimed at reducing bureaucratic delays and public inconvenience, the Belagavi City Corporation (ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಮಹಾನಗರ ಪಾಲಿಕೆ) has partnered with the Department of Posts to deliver birth and death certificates directly to citizens’ doorsteps.
Under the new agreement, residents applying for birth or death certificates will no longer need to make repeat visits to municipal counters to collect the final physical documents. Once processed, the certificates will be dispatched via postal services straight to the address provided by the applicant.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Belagavi City Corporation Commissioner Karthik M. and Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Belagavi Division, Arushi Sharma.
Speaking after the signing, Corporation Commissioner Karthik M. highlighted that applicants can opt for home delivery when submitting their applications. The initiative eliminates the traditional queue system, making civic documentation accessible and efficient.
Senior Superintendent Arushi Sharma noted that the postal network provides reliable, prompt distribution. Once the Corporation approves and prints the certificates, postal carriers will handle the last-mile doorstep delivery.
Key officials present at the signing included postal officer Ashok Kumar Nallan, Corporation Health Officer Sanjeev Nandre, and senior department representatives.
