Air Quality Improves in Belagavi

Air quality across Karnataka has shown signs of improvement in recent days, with cities like Belagavi and Hubballi recording better Air Quality Index (AQI) levels, even as concerns persist in Bengaluru and other regions.

According to recent data, Belagavi recorded an AQI of 67, indicating a moderate air quality level that is comparatively safer for residents. In contrast, Bengaluru reported an AQI of 127, which still falls under the poor category and remains a concern for public health.

Mixed Air Quality Across Karnataka

While several cities have witnessed improvement, the situation varies across the state:

  • Mysuru reported relatively better air quality (AQI 90)
  • Hubballi stood at AQI 80
  • Ballari recorded a higher AQI of 143
  • Kalaburagi and Shivamogga hovered around 119

Experts note that although there is a slight improvement compared to previous days, air quality in many cities is still not within safe limits as per WHO standards. Even Bengaluru, despite improvement, continues to pose health risks.

Health Concerns Remain

Environmental experts have warned that prolonged exposure to poor air quality can lead to respiratory illnesses and other health complications. Though the current improvement offers some relief, the situation requires continuous monitoring and preventive measures.

Understanding AQI Levels

  • 0–50: Good
  • 50–100: Moderate
  • 100–150: Poor
