Putting an end to circulating rumors regarding his transfer, Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan stated that he has received no transfer orders from the state government and continues to discharge his duties as the district’s chief administrator.
Speaking during an interview, DC Roshan addressed the public speculation triggered by his recent remarks at a police program. He clarified that mentioning his tenure of two and a half years in the district was merely a casual observation and not an indication of an impending departure.
“I am still serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi. No transfer orders have been issued by the government. When the government decides on a posting, we naturally abide by the orders, but right now, work continues as usual. This is not a farewell speech; there is still significant work to be done,” Roshan stated.
Reflecting on his tenure in Karnataka’s largest district, Roshan described Belagavi as vibrant yet administratively complex, comprising distinct geographies ranging from Malenadu to Bayaluseeme. He attributed successful conflict resolution across the district to active dialogue and empathy rather than bureaucratic directives.
“Belagavi presents diverse challenges, but approaching communities with dialogue, mutual respect, and patience resolves almost every complication. When you visit people directly, listen to their problems, and act on feedback, they respond with complete trust,” he noted, citing an estimated 300 to 400 citizens visiting his office daily.
Roshan commended his administrative colleagues, police leadership, and district staff for their cohesive teamwork. He expressed gratitude to elected representatives across party lines—including district in-charge ministers, local MLAs, and opposition leaders—for granting the administration complete operational freedom to address long-pending highway, urban, and rural development projects. He also pointed to the imminent commencement of the comprehensive Yellamma Gudda developmental works as a milestone project.
Recalling his personal journey in Belagavi, Roshan shared that the historic 1916 heritage DC residence has provided a memorable backdrop for his family life, marked especially by the birth of his daughter, Ruhi, making the district an unforgettable chapter in his civil service career.
