In a major push for industrial decentralization and clean energy, Belagavi district is set to receive significant green investments as part of Karnataka’s latest industrial clearance drive.
The state’s Single Window Clearance Committee, chaired by Minister for Large and Medium Industries M. B. Patil, has cleared 83 industrial project proposals worth ₹6,252 crore, projected to generate over 30,000 jobs.
As part of the initiative to drive development “Beyond Bengaluru,” Belagavi’s Chikkodi and Nippani taluks (alongside Mandya’s Pandavapura) will host four new Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants developed by Leafiniti Bioenergy, involving an investment of ₹310 crore.
Key Investment Highlights
- Belagavi Focus: Leafiniti Bioenergy to invest ₹310 crore to set up 4 Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) units across Chikkodi and Nippani taluks in Belagavi and Pandavapura in Mandya.
- Regional Decentralization: Out of the 83 approved projects, 69 projects are being established outside the Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts.
- Other Major North Karnataka Investments:
- Vijayapura: Srisaila Mallikarjuna Distilleries to invest ₹453 crore in a sugar and power generation unit in Devarahippargi taluk.
- Bagalkote: Pure India Limited investing ₹397 crore in a jaggery production facility.
- Dharwad: Sunstar Precision Forging investing ₹193.96 crore.
- Koppal: Pyaticonda Balasubbaretty & Sons investing ₹98 crore for a pig iron plant.
- Statewide Breakdown:
- 24 large projects (above ₹50 crore each) bringing in ₹4,703 crore.
- 57 medium projects (₹15 crore to ₹50 crore) totaling ₹1,291 crore.
- 2 capacity-expansion projects contributing ₹258 crore.
The clearance committee meeting was attended by Commerce & Industries Principal Secretary S. Selvakumar, Commissioner Gunjan Krishna, KIADB CEO Mahesh, and other senior department officials.
