Home Minister launches ₹67.79 Crore Police Housing Projects in Belagavi
Belagavi, April 17: Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwar on Friday inaugurated newly constructed police quarters in Belagavi and laid foundation stones for additional housing projects, marking a significant step toward improving living conditions for police personnel.
Addressing the gathering, the minister stated that residential quarters worth ₹67.79 crore are currently under construction across Belagavi district. He also highlighted that new housing units are being developed in Shahapur, with each unit costing approximately ₹38 lakh. These modern and well-equipped homes are intended to provide a secure and comfortable environment for police personnel and their families, enabling officers to perform their duties more effectively without domestic concerns.

Local MLA Asif Sait praised the initiative, noting that as many as 174 houses have already been constructed within Belagavi city, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening police welfare infrastructure.
In addition to housing, the Home Minister announced a major step toward tackling the growing challenge of cybercrime. He revealed that the State government plans to establish cyber labs in all districts. These labs will assist investigating officers in detecting and preventing cyber offences while also serving as training centres to enhance the technical capabilities of police personnel.
Senior police officials were present at the event, including Additional Director General of Police R. Hitendra, Inspector General of Police (Northern Range) Chetan Singh Rathore, Police Commissioner Borse Bhushan Gulabrao, and Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan, among others.
The initiative is expected to enhance both the welfare and operational efficiency of the police force in the region, while the proposed cyber labs aim to strengthen the state’s response to emerging digital threats.
