MP Jagadish Shettar Sets Deadlines for Airport, NHAI, and Railway Projects

Member of Parliament for Belagavi, Shri Jagadish Shettar, chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of major infrastructure projects being undertaken by central government departments, including Civil Aviation, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the Railways.

The meeting was held in the presence of Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan. Expressing concern over project delays, MP Shettar issued strict directives and necessary guidelines to officials to ensure all pending works are completed swiftly.

Key Highlights and Progress Reports from the Meeting:

1. Aviation Department: Parallel Taxi way Construction

The meeting held extensive discussions regarding the overall development of the Belagavi Airport, specifically the construction of a Parallel TaxiWay.

  • The Issue: Around 16 acres of land need to be transferred from the Belagavi Air Force station for this project. However, the required data has not yet been uploaded to the central Defense Portal.
  • The Directive: The Director of the Airport Authority was instructed to coordinate immediately with Revenue Department officials to upload the necessary details onto the Defense Portal to expedite the land transfer.

2. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)

  • Halaga-Machhe Bypass and Ring Road: Out of the total 14 km stretch between Halaga and Machhe, 9 km of roadwork has already been completed. The Project Director of NHAI Dharwad informed the chair that issues persist on a remaining 3.5 km stretch. Taking serious note of the delay, the MP warned officials against negligence and ordered them to complete the remaining work on a war footing.
  • Belagavi Ring Road Progress: Under Packages 1, 2, and 3 of the Ring Road near Belagavi city, 80% of the land acquisition compensation has already been disbursed. To kickstart the Package-1 works, MP Shettar assured officials that he would soon visit New Delhi to meet the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways to secure the necessary approvals for inviting tenders.
  • Belagavi – Hungund – Raichur Highway: Regarding Package-1 of this 43.8 km road project, the Special Land Acquisition Officer from Bagalkot reported that 37 km of land has already been acquired, leaving just 5 km pending. The MP set a strict deadline of July 20, 2026, to complete the remaining acquisition. Additionally, addressing public grievances, he directed officials to build service roads near villages where farmers are currently facing difficulties accessing their fields.

3. Railway Department: Railway Gate (LC No. 381) Double-Laning

Reviewing the progress of the second lane construction near Railway Gate LC No. 381 in Tilakwadi, Belagavi, the MP reviewed the status report from officials. To ease public movement and reduce traffic congestion, he instructed the Railway Deputy Engineer to commence the physical construction work as early as possible.
