Fuel prices in Belagavi have witnessed yet another increase, marking the third hike since May 15, with petrol and diesel prices now rising by nearly ₹5 per litre in just over a week.
As per the latest revision effective Saturday, petrol prices increased by 87 paise per litre, while diesel prices went up by 91 paise per litre.
With the fresh revision, petrol in Belagavi is now priced at ₹107.90 per litre, while diesel costs ₹95.88 per litre.
State-owned oil companies had started revising fuel prices upward from May 15, citing elevated international energy prices arising from the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Global crude oil markets have remained volatile due to geopolitical tensions and supply concerns.
The consecutive hikes have sparked concern among commuters, transport operators, and businesses dependent on fuel. Auto-rickshaw drivers, cab operators, and commercial vehicle owners say the repeated increase in rates is affecting their earnings and operational costs.
Traders and residents also fear that the continued rise in fuel prices could trigger an increase in transportation charges and essential commodity prices, further adding to the cost of living.
With petrol nearing ₹108 per litre in Belagavi, many citizens are hoping for stability in global crude oil markets and relief from further fuel price increases.
