The District Health Officer (DHO) of Belagavi has been issued a show-cause notice after an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance was allegedly not arranged during the official visit of Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to the district on 9th July.
Authorities initiated the action after a post-visit review revealed that an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance—a mandatory safety arrangement for VVIP visits—was not deployed as required by state protocol.
Protocol Non-Compliance and Findings
According to official sources, government guidelines mandate that any official tour by top state dignitaries must be accompanied by a fully equipped ALS ambulance along with a specialized medical team to handle potential emergencies.
However, preliminary inquiries indicated that only a basic medical ambulance was assigned during the visit, leaving critical life-support equipment absent from the VVIP motorcade.
Impending Disciplinary Action
The district administration has demanded a formal explanation from the DHO regarding the failure to arrange the required high-dependency unit. Officials emphasized that further disciplinary steps will be determined based on the official response submitted by the health department.
The incident has sparked concern over compliance with standard emergency response protocols in the district, prompting administrative calls for stricter adherence to VVIP safety mandates across future official engagements.
