BELAGAVI – The landscape of North Karnataka is set for a spiritual transformation as the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) officially moves forward with the construction of a grand Venkateshwara temple on the outskirts of Belagavi.
In a press conference held on Tuesday, April 21, at Reddy Bhavan in Sadashivnagar, key details regarding the land transfer and the project’s financial roadmap were revealed.
A Commendable Contribution
TTD board member S. Naresh Kumar expressed high praise for the local community, stating that the decision of the Belagavi Reddy Sangha to voluntarily hand over around seven acres of land for the temple construction was “commendable.” This donation serves as the foundation for what is expected to become one of the region’s most significant religious landmarks.
Funding and Timeline
The project is ambitious in both scale and speed. Mr. Naresh Kumar shared the following specifics regarding the build:
- Timeline: The temple is scheduled to be completed over the next two years.
- Budget: The total estimated cost of the project is approximately ₹100 crore.
- Funding Split: * 80% will be funded directly by the TTD.
- 10% will be contributed by the Reddy Sangha.
- 10% will be gathered through donations from devotees.
A Triple-State Spiritual Hub
Planned with the active support of donors from across Karnataka, the temple is strategically positioned to serve more than just the local population. Mr. Naresh Kumar noted that because it is located at a central point connecting three states (Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa), the temple is expected to offer immense convenience to millions of devotees who otherwise travel long distances to Andhra Pradesh.
Tirupati Traditions in Belagavi
The TTD plans to ensure the Belagavi shrine mirrors the sanctity of the original Tirumala temple. Facilities will include:
- Accommodation and Prasadam: Full lodging facilities and the distribution of the iconic Tirupati Laddus.
- Ritual Consistency: Religious programs and ceremonies will be conducted in the same manner as they are in Tirupati.
The event was attended by Karnataka State Reddy Jana Sangha president Lakshman Reddy, Belagavi Reddy Sangha president Ramanna Mullur, and other prominent members including Vikram Jain and Avinash Potadar.
