In a significant development for regional air connectivity, Star Air has withdrawn its Belagavi–Jaipur and Belagavi–Ahmedabad flight services, further reducing its operations from the city.
The airline has discontinued the Belagavi–Jaipur sector (S5 169 & S5 170), which was operating twice a week, along with the daily Belagavi–Ahmedabad service (S5 107 & S5 108). With these suspensions, Star Air will operate only the Belagavi–Mumbai–Belagavi route during the month of May.
However, there is partial relief for passengers, as the airline has confirmed that the Belagavi–Ahmedabad sector will resume from June, with bookings already open.
The frequent suspension of routes is not new for Star Air. Over the past few years—particularly after the end of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)—the airline has scaled back several services from Belagavi.
Routes discontinued over the last 5–6 years include:
- Belagavi – Bengaluru
- Belagavi – Nashik
- Belagavi – Tirupati
- Belagavi – Nagpur
- Belagavi – Indore
- Belagavi – Surat
- Belagavi – Jodhpur
- Belagavi – Jaipur
Despite multiple withdrawals, no new routes have been introduced from Belagavi during this period, raising concerns among passengers and stakeholders about the city’s declining air connectivity.
The latest move is expected to inconvenience regular flyers and business travelers who relied on these connections, while also highlighting the challenges faced by regional aviation routes in sustaining operations without continued policy support.
With this, Star Air has withdrawn a total of eight services from Belagavi Airport so far, while no new routes have been introduced—further intensifying concerns over the city’s shrinking air network.
