Karnataka Govt and Naukri.com Partner to Drive Industrial & Tech Hiring in Tier-2 Cities

The Karnataka government has partnered with the job portal Naukri.com to provide free recruitment support for new Global Capability Centres (GCCs) established in the state.

This initiative, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), aims to strengthen the state’s position as a global tech hub and drive economic growth in regions beyond Bengaluru.

Core Objectives of the Partnership

The primary goal is to simplify the talent acquisition process for emerging GCCs during their critical setup phase. By reducing the initial hurdles of hiring, the government hopes to attract more multinational corporations to set up their strategic and technical units in Karnataka.

  • Regional Focus: While Bengaluru remains a primary tech hub, this partnership specifically targets “Beyond Bengaluru” clusters to ensure distributed growth. These include:
  • Mysuru
  • Mangaluru
  • Hubballi–Dharwad–Belagavi
  • Kalaburagi
  • Tumakuru
  • Shivamogga

The “GCC Starter Package”

Under the two-year agreement, Naukri.com will offer a specialized support package to new GCCs registered with KITS. Key features include:

  • 90 Days of Free Access: Newly established centers can use Naukri’s premium recruitment tools at no cost for the first three months.
  • Employer Branding: Assistance in building a brand presence to attract high-quality candidates.
  • Assisted Hiring: Dedicated support and premium sourcing tools to identify the right talent quickly.

Strategic Importance

The initiative is part of the state’s larger “KATALYST” program, which provides end-to-end support for GCCs.

  • For GCCs: It reduces the “time-to-hire” and operational costs during the initial phase.
  • For the Government: The data and insights generated from Naukri.com will help the state understand talent demand patterns. This information will be used to align educational curriculums and skilling programs with actual industry needs.
  • For Talent: Job seekers in tier-2 and tier-3 cities will gain better visibility and access to high-value roles within global organizations without necessarily relocating to Bengaluru.

Government officials emphasized that as GCCs evolve from back-office operations into centers of global innovation, providing them with a robust talent pipeline is essential for moving up the value chain.
