The Belagavi Police Commissioner’s Office has issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the Vishwaguru Basaveshwara Jayanti celebrations scheduled for April 26, 2026. A grand procession will be held across key parts of the city, prompting traffic diversions and restrictions to ensure public safety and smooth movement.
The procession will commence from Rani Chennamma Circle and pass through major routes including Kakti Ves Road, Shaniwar Khoat, Ganapati Galli, Maruti Galli, Kirloskar Road, Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle, and College Road, before concluding at Angadi College Ground.
Traffic Diversions from 4:00 PM
Authorities have announced that traffic regulations will come into effect from 4:00 PM onwards and remain in force until the procession concludes.
Diversion Towards Khanapur:
Vehicles heading toward Khanapur via College Road will be rerouted through Sangolli Rayanna Circle, SP Office Road, Krishnadevaraya (Kolhapur) Circle, Y-Junction, Sadashiv Nagar, Visvesvaraya Nagar, Gandhi Circle (Argan Talao), Shaurya Chowk, and Globe Theater Circle to access Khanapur Road.
Entry into Belagavi from Khanapur/Goa:
Vehicles entering the city via Congress Road or the Shri Jagajyoti Basaveshwara Road Over Bridge at Gogte Circle will be diverted at Globe Theater Circle and guided through Gavali Galli Cross, Shaurya Colony, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Gandhi Circle, and Hindalga Road to connect to Bauxite Road and the National Highway.
Procession Route Management
On roads with dual carriageways, one side will be allocated for the procession while the other will be used for controlled traffic movement. However, single-lane roads along the route will be completely reserved for the procession.
Heavy Vehicle Restriction
The entry of all heavy vehicles into the city will be strictly prohibited from 4:00 PM until the conclusion of the procession.
No Parking Zones
Parking of vehicles will not be permitted along the entire procession route, including:

Kakti Ves Road
Shaniwar Khoat
Ganapati Galli
Maruti Galli
Kirloskar Road
Dharmaveer Sambhaji Circle
College Road
Public Advisory
Citizens are advised to plan their travel in advance, follow designated diversion routes, and cooperate with traffic authorities to avoid inconvenience during the celebrations.
